Not So Sweet Dreams

The moment she closed her eyes, dreams appeared. Odessa found herself standing on a  mountain. A muscular man in a chiton climbed up beside her. In the distance she could see Atlas holding up a swirling sky.
The man, who Odessa guessed was Hercules, went to Atlas. She watched as Atlas went to get the apples while Hercules was stuck in Atlas's place, with the weight of the world literally on his shoulders. When Atlas returned with the golden apples, he told Hercules he would take them to Eurystheus himself, and asked Hercules to stay there and hold the heavy load for the rest of time. Hercules slyly agreed, but asked Atlas whether he could take it back again, just for a moment, while the hero put some soft padding on his shoulders to help him bear the weight of the sky and the earth. Atlas put the apples on the ground, and lifted the burden onto his own shoulders. And so Hercules picked up the apples and quickly ran off, carrying them back, uneventfully, to Eurystheus.
The dream shifted. She was on the mountain again, yet this time the time felt different, more modern than the last one.
A young man with blond hair and blue eyes stood in the garden. He glanced up at the huge tree, as if deciding how he would get an apple. A scaly dragon with more heads than Odessa could count slept soundly beneath the tree, right in front of the man.
Several girls appeared, and warned the man to not get any closer. He just shrugged and walked past them as if they weren't there.
He jumped onto one of the branches, but his sword fell beneath him. The dragon awoke, snorting fire. It snapped at the man, and one of it's claws swiped at his face. The man yelled with pain, and picked up his sword to cut off it's claw. Then he ran off down the mountain, disappearing into the mist.
Once again the dream shifted into another. Darkness swallowed Odessa, when suddenly a ball of fire appeared in someone's hands. She could see her friend's faces, including herself. A young boy stood next to Odessa #2. A roar echoed through the tunnel, and the four scattered.
A voice, sounding exactly like her own, said, "Come here, Devin! Help!" Yet this voice seemed to be an imitated voice. Odessa followed Devin as he ran toward the voice. He skidded to a stop when he realized he was trapped. A Cyclops loomed over him, smiling with blackened teeth. "Welcome, my dinner," he sad as the Cyclops grabbed Devin. A scream pierced her dream as Odessa woke up.
Sunlight streamed through the windows, and the rest of Cabin 11 were still asleep. Letting out a gigantic yawn, Odessa dressed into her orange Camp Half-Blood shirt, jeans, and her favorite winged sneakers. In the bathroom, she took a moment to gaze at herself. Her curly black hair was all tangled from her rough night of sleep. Sky blue eyes glittered with mischievousness. Freckles dotted her face, and natural pale rosy cheeks topped was speckled with pimples.
As she brushed her hair, Odessa tried to think about what her dreams meant. She could clearly remember the first two, but the last one was fuzzy.
The door opened and her half-brother Connor Stoll walked in. "Oh, sorry Dess. Didn't know you were in here," He said, flushed.
"It's alright, Connor. I'm was about to come out anyway." Odessa walked past him and took her bag from her bunk. On the outside it looked like an ordinary brown leather bag. Inside, however, it was bottomless, and it could hold anything of all sizes. Her friend Charlotte Knight, daughter of Hecate, had created it.
Odessa waited for Nathan outside Cabin 14; she did not have to wait long, though. Nathan came out with a huge backpack.
Odessa giggled. "Goin' hiking, Nathan?" He gave her a confused look, then realized that it was a joke.
"Ha-ha. Very funny," He said sarcastically.
Odessa grinned. "Let's get Blaze, though I think we'll have to wake her.
The two half-bloods trudged to Cabin 9, a brick cabin with a smokestack on it, like a tiny factory or something. The entrance is like a vault door, circular, and of thick metal. It opens with a lot of gears turning and smoke hissing. It has shiny metal walls and metal slatted doors. The cabin is known for being unclean and messy, filled with junk often. The interior of the cabin consists of steel bunks folded against the walls with a digital control panel. Odessa had heard that there is a tunnel underneath it.
Odessa stood over Blaze's sleeping form. Snoring loudly, and her auburn hair was like a wildfire. Odessa took out a harpy feather from her bag and began to tickle Blaze's nose. She stifled a laugh as Blaze sneezed. Suddenly a hand shot toward the feather and burnt in a matter of seconds.
Blaze laughed this time as she sat up and rubbed her eyes. "Gotcha, didn't I?"
"Yeah," Odessa admitted. "But I'll get you next time!"
Blaze rolled her eyes. "I should get ready. Haven't even packed yet!" She hurriedly rushed toward the bathroom.
The third chapter of Odessa's adventure.
